I have been influenced by some imperfect individuals who excelled in parts of their lives. Bruce Lee is one.
“Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory.”
Our profession encourages us to be showy. Hearing aids are not things that people desire, therefore we tend to be too persuasive when it’s not appropriate. There is FAR too much marketing in our profession. Maybe we should just knuckle down, and get on with the job.
“Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own.”
Holistic Audiology relies far more on the individual’s devotion and love of their job. Gain a deep insight into how your patients feel, and you will make them happy.
“If you want to learn to swim jump into the water. On dry land no frame of mind is ever going to help you.”
If you want to fulfil your career potential, you need to become an independent? Yet many of those I speak to think that starting a business just means working out of a couple of opticians, with no personal investment, with money from others, with no love for the job. This is no good. The reality is you need to believe fully in what you want to do. A tentative approach is not going to do it.
